Lay Ministry Staff (Youth Worker)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBIILITIES

1. Youth Ministry (70 to 80% of time)

Lead, oversee and shepherd Charis Xciting Saints (XS 17 - 22 years old) and (JXS 13 - 16 years old)

1.1 XS Youth Ministry

a. Provide leadership, vision and direction for the XS youth ministry, its people, and programmes.

b. Provide pastoral care and discipleship for youths, including pre-believers and new believers.

c. Oversee the direction and function of the XS core team.

d. Disciple and train leaders, mentoring and empowering them to serve with calling and giftings.

e. Oversee XS youth Programmes such as small groups, combined sessions, Youth Camps and other youth events.

f. Work with adult volunteers and parents in youth ministry efforts.

g. Facilitate the transition of youth from XS to the Young Adults Ministry.

1.2 JXS Youth Ministry

a. Partner with JXS leaders to shape the vision and direction of the ministry.

b. Provide pastoral care and discipleship for JXS youths, including pre-believers and new believers.

c. Disciple and train leaders, mentoring and empowering them to serve with calling and giftings.

d. Oversee JXS youth programmes such as weekly sessions, camps, and special youth events.

e. Work with adult volunteers and parents in youth ministry.

f. Manage youth transitions from Sunday School to JXS and from JXS to XS.

2. Church Ministry

a. Working with Pastor-in-Charge (PIC) and pastoral team in church-wide ministry efforts.

b. Partner with church committees (e.g. missions, social concerns, worship ministry, church school) to serve the larger body of the church.

3. Conference Ministry

Represent Charis Methodist Church in CAC Conference matters as assigned by PIC (such as involvement in the Lay Ministry Staff Retreat and the Board of Youth Ministry).

REQUIREMENTS:

1. A recognised theological degree, or a commitment to pursue theological training while in the role

2. Experience working with youth in a church setting

3. Passion for outreach and evangelism

4. A strong desire to mentor youth

5. Initiative and resourcefulness in youth ministry
