Manager Economist

We’re hiring an Economist to join a newly created Economics & Strategy team working directly with the Chief Economist. This is a high-visibility role focused on shaping macroeconomic views across Asia that directly feed into investment decisions across equities, fixed income, FX, and broader portfolio strategy.

What you’ll do

1. Build and refine econometric models to forecast Asia macro variables and market trends
2. Produce high-quality macroeconomic research, thematic insights, and thought leadership
3. Analyse economic data, policy shifts, and market developments across global and regional markets
4. Translate complex macro signals into clear, actionable insights for investment and business teams
5. Build charts, presentations, and reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
6. Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across investment and strategy functions

What we’re looking for

1. 3–5 years’ experience in an economics / macro research role (buy-side, sell-side, government, or multilateral)
2. Strong academic background in Economics / Finance (post-grad in Econometrics preferred)
3. Hands-on experience with econometric modelling and data analysis
4. Strong proficiency in Python (or EViews) + advanced Excel & PowerPoint
5. Strong understanding of Asia macroeconomics, markets, and policy dynamics
6. Ability to simplify complex economic views into clear investment narratives
