Job Description - Manager, Global Engineering

The incumbent leads Factory’s Engineering Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering projects to ensure they are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive innovation, improve processes, and ensure the successful execution of engineering initiatives. The incumbent is also responsible for mentoring team members and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

The incumbent will assist in managing project deliverables and monitoring timeline. Incumbent will coordinate with respective stakeholder internal or external to ensure smooth completion of the project.

Document the process along the way. Manage and document full process flow of:

 

  • Responsible for delivery success of assigned project.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholder to ensure systems and procedures are compliance to the Organization’s Quality standards and Regulatory requirements. 
  • Sourcing for machinery/equipment/parts, conduct technical evaluation and submit propose for management review.
  • Participate in Project Core Team meetings or Extended Team meetings to drive action to solutions.
  • Organize project meeting and compile project status report to achieve project scope, schedule, resource and budget.
  • Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies to address potential delays or issues.
  • Drive operational readiness to support development builds and trial manufacturing build. Conduct reviews and compile reports.
  • Participate in new process development, optimize existing process, and implement technical breakthrough activities through Lean / Six Sigma methodology to reduce manufacturing costs and/or enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and decision-making on complex engineering problems.
  • Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Ensure the application of best practices, engineering standards, and state-of-the-art technologies in all projects.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Any other ad hoc responsibility tasked by the reporting Manager / Senior Management.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree and above / relevant Trade Certifications in Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Industrial Engineer or related
  • 7 years working experience (with at least 3 years in managerial or leadership role) in FMCG manufacturing companies in a similar role preferred or relevant experience in leading medium to large scale projects involving process improvement or installation of new production line.  
  • Able to read, write and speak fluently in Chinese and English.
  • Abel to communicate in Malay would be beneficial.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design, and project management methodologies. 
  • Strong communication skill.
  • Knowledge in lean manufacturing, supply chain, quality standards/regulatory requirements will be added advantage. 
  • Project Management, Quality Focus, Database Design, analysing information etc. 
  • Efficiency in reporting research results, attentive to detail, emphasizing excellence in Innovation.
  • Able to multi-task, meet deadlines with demonstrated ability to drive improvement.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects, including budgeting and resource allocation. 
  • Demonstrated strong ability to lead and drive meeting / discussion, communicate issues and resolve conflicts within cross functional teams. 
  • Good planning and organization skills, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation skill
