Marine Superintendent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our tanker fleet. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role is responsible for supporting vessel operations, leading safety and vetting activities, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Oil Major vetting inspections and ensure assigned vessels comply with local and international maritime regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.

• Coordinate with Oil Majors and relevant stakeholders to maintain vessel acceptance and resolve vetting-related matters.

• Conduct pre-vetting inspections and work closely with the technical team to address inspection findings and improve vessel performance.

• Monitor daily vessel operations, providing operational guidance and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Advise Masters and Navigation Officers on navigational and operational matters to uphold safe navigation standards.

• Lead safety initiatives, including incident investigations, near-miss reporting, inspections, and continuous quality improvement.

• Conduct internal audits, ISPS audits, marine ship inspections, cargo operation audits, and annual navigation audits in accordance with company requirements.

• Follow up on audit findings, non-conformities, and SIRE inspection observations to ensure timely corrective actions.

• Liaise with the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) on policy implementation, training programmes, and regulatory compliance.

• Participate in emergency response activities and provide operational support to the fleet, including risk assessments and coordination of vessel logistics such as provisions and fresh water.

• Build and maintain effective relationships with Oil Majors, principals, and industry stakeholders while supporting continuous operational improvement.

• Act on behalf of the Marine Manager and/or Safety Marine Manager when required.

Requirements

• COC Class 1 with tanker sailing experience.

• At least 2 years of service onboard tanker vessels, including a minimum of 12 months in a management-level position (command experience preferred).

• At least 1 year of shore-based experience in a ship management company.

• Previous supervisory experience in a tanker company will be an advantage.

• Good written and spoken English communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently.

• Results-oriented, proactive, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Able to commence work within a short notice period will be an advantage.
