Job Description - Materials Store Specialist

The role is responsible for leading the execution of Aster Polymer Solutions' materials management and logistics strategy, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient warehouse operations. The incumbent will optimize inventory working capital, drive operational excellence, support effective contracting strategies, enhance customer-focused service delivery, and maximize value through inventory optimization and investment recovery.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure HSSE and operational compliance by conducting assurance checks on warehouse operations, facilities, emergency response systems, and storage equipment, and verify that all required inspections and certifications (e.g., racking, forklifts, lifting accessories, firefighting equipment) are completed in full alignment with site Operational Excellence policy and legal standards to maintain a safe working environment. 
  • Understand the role of the Warehouse in the end-to-end supply chain and actively contribute to top quartile supply chain performance by applying commercial mindset and proactive collaboration with key business partners for smooth production plan execution. 
  • Develop team members’ competence, capability and robustly assuring the right experienced, knowledgeable and trained workforce to support the business. 
  • Manage Cost of Warehouse Operations within the given budget. 
  • Support implementation and compliance with standards and regulations for Supply Chain operations including customs, freight forwarding, and logistical services. 
  • Deliver inventory optimization and accuracy in line with business and financial objectives. Monitor inventory of KPIs, data quality, define root causes on issues identified, and ensure good closure on the follow up actions. 
  • Engage with business counterparts to develop Shutdown Maintenance and Project support plans. Firm up Stage It/Kitting agreements for each Project and Shutdown Maintenance event. Strategically dedicate warehouse space and determine appropriate facility and additional resources/considerations for each event. Ensure optimal opportunity for investment recovery for unused materials, and to keep maximum availability of space for future needs. 
  • Ensure that all materials, equipment and tools are documented (incl. SDS), stored, preserved, handled, staged, stowed, moved, loaded and unloaded safely, efficiently and in compliance with procedures. Ensure proper preparation, processing, verification, and administration of transport documentation relevant to transport of materials and equipment from/to Warehouse/asset. 
  • Optimize Warehouse and Yard layouts (traffic and master storage location plan) considering Transport requirements, space utilization, material preservation and security (incl. Bulk and Waste.) Monitor actual performance metrics against the agreed targets and service levels, reacting to underperformance and driving continuous outcomes improvements on a sustainable basis. 
  • Drive execution of 3rd party service contracts, where applicable, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk/change and identifying opportunities to maximize value for Aster, seeking support from relevant subject matter experts as appropriate. 
  • Ensure management of waste is executed in line with procedures and local regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage Surplus materials with the proposal of surplus stock sale strategies together with the waste coordinator, tracking the re-use/sale/disposal of surplus stock and ensure accurate documentation of sale/disposal agreements and the collection of proceeds. 
  • Lead team members in handling customer complaint or incident investigation 
  • To assist supervisor in establishing, revising and updating work procedures and in conducting procedural training for contractors and employees. 
  •  Develop Internal Audit Plan for Warehouse Operations and execute it well with stakeholders to delivery service excellence in warehouse.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Business or Engineering degree. 
  • Candidate who has Logistics & Warehouse Management and/or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) will be preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, inventory management, warehouse and logistics operations. 
  • Self-driven and proactive in continuous improvement mindset to delivery long term value for the organization.

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Skilled in managing warehouse operations with a strong focus on safety and compliance. 
  • Proficient in SAP ERP, Microsoft Office applications, Power BI, and AI tools to optimize productivity and operational efficiency. 
  • Strong leadership capabilities with extensive experience in change management and team development. 
  • Strong ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and foster effective collaboration across all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, foster positive relationships, and work effectively with diverse teams.
