Mechanical Design Engineer

A member of BEUMER Group, located in Singapore BEUMER Group Singapore Pte. Ltd. is strategically located at the Singapore Changi International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. We have more than 200 employees working in our various business segments such as Airport systems, Logistics and Customer Support.

• Design and optimization of material handling systems (baggage handling, parcels handling, cargo facilities) and logistics systems including conveyor system designs, steelworks, layout plans, equipment design, and fabrication.
• Coordinate with internal team members, project management, customers and suppliers for design and calculation, component selection, manufacturing, purchase and assembly.
• Analyze customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to evaluate design requirements.
• Prepare mechanical design drawings and specifications for submissions, coordinate and follow up on all submissions till final project completion.
• Prepare fabrication detail drawings, schedules, evaluate alternatives, and handle reports in accordance with applicable standards where is necessary.

Education & professional experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Min 2 years of working experience with mechanical design, experience in   baggage or material handling system design is preferable.

Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing:

• Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD, Naviswork and Microsoft Office software applications.
• Experience with REVIT software is preferable.
• Strong knowledge of materials properties and applications, fabrication methods.
• Demonstrate interest in baggage handling projects and complex systems.
• Must project a professional, positive attitude, and exercise confidentiality.
• Good team work player with good inter-personal skills and communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
• Work effectively in a range of roles - independently, as a design team member.
• Exercise creativity, and initiative in the performance of these duties.
• Perform all responsibilities with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Experience includes multiple projects taking parts from initial concept and design through to production.
