Roles & Responsibilities
Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgist whose primary responsibility is to support the Metallurgy Laboratory Manager in running day to day laboratory affairs aling with site and field testing.
This role is based in Tuas South, Singapore.
Job Duties:
- Support the Laboratory Manager in running day to day affairs of a 17025 accredited metallurgical laboratory and performing metallurgical failure analysis on failed metallic (ferrous and Nonferrous) components, generating failure investigation reports with technical findings
- Carry out the mechanical tests for material properties evaluation and weld procedure specification qualification as per various international standards (ASME, API, AWS and BS). The tests include tensile test, Impact test, Nick-Break test, Bend Test, Macro examination, CTOD etc
- Carry out the corrosion tests as per NACE standards and other project specification to determine the susceptibility of material to corrosion in various service conditions
- Metallographic examinations on various materials to determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases and general microstructure evaluation
- Involvement in site/field testing and coordinating with the clients & third-party witness as to the testing details.
Job Description:
- Bachelor degree in Metallurgy or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing, handling mechanical tests and failure analysis
- Knowledge and experience of safe operation of metallurgical testing equipment and operating in lab and / or industrial environment
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Self-motivated team playing with excellent organisational and communication skills
