Job Description - MUSIC AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Dulwich College (Singapore) is looking for a MUSIC AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANT to join its Music Department. The Music and Technical Assistant will provide administrative and organisational support to the Music Department with logistics and technical requirements. This is a Full-Time Support Staff position.

 

Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Work closely with the Director of Music for each production so to be able to plan and manage all expectations and outcomes.
  • Responsible for music instruments and equipment set up during all recording sessions and performances. 
  • Provide administrative and organisational support to the Music Department in coordinating the calendar of events.  
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register. 
  • Provide instrumental support for band and orchestra instruments 
  • Maintain budget expenses for technical equipment 
  • Engineer recording sessions, post-production/mixing and mastering for all music department projects.
  • Manage and maintain the music studio’s DAW, schematic’s, patching and inventory, audio lines and patching in the music studio.  Engineer recording sessions that are conducted on different sites of the school too with mobile recording equipment.  

 

Term-Time Duties include the following:

  • Technical & logistic support of events; 
  • Event support management; 
  • Day to day support of SS instrumental programme; 
  • Audio Engineer in charge of the Recording Studio 
  • Recording studio expert lead (Whole College); 
  • Equipment and resources lead technician/repairs and maintenance/product recommender; 

Out of School-Term Duties include the following:

  • Assist with the arrival and unpacking of new resources as and when they arrive in holiday periods; 
  • Assist with organising and coordinating the servicing of musical instruments and other equipment; 
  • Plan for music lesson resources between the end of one academic term /year and the commencement of the next; 
  • Update and review the fixed asset register for the Music Department; 
  • Plan ahead for requirements and arrangements for the following academic term. 

All other duties commensurate with the post. 

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of ‘A’ levels;
  • Achievement of graded music examinations may be an advantage.
  • A minimum of one year’s relevant work experience, ideally gained in an administrative environment;
  • Experience of using computer systems, including Microsoft Office;
  • Experience of learning musical instruments;
  • Experience of working independently with little supervision;
  • Experience of working with children in a school environment would be an advantage.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills;
  • Excellent customer care skills, and the ability to relate well to children;
  • An understanding of musical education;
  • The ability to communicate effectively throughout the College;
  • A flexible approach to work, and the willingness to contribute to the team;
  • The ability to use own initiative to undertake required tasks.
