NEL Power - Technician

Primary Objectives of Position

• Maintenance and operation of NEL HV and DC traction power distribution system, network and equipment
• Meet operational requirements by ensuring safety, reliability and availability of the system

Major Responsibilities

• Participate in procuring all necessary tools and spares pertaining to the operation of the system
• Participate in all testing and commissioning of Power distribution Systems equipment
• Participate in implementing of a cost effective and comprehensive maintenance program
• Practice in accordance with the quality system in all relevant area of work
• Provide on-the-job training for new in-house staff
• Proper practice of fault reporting and documentation for in-house and outsource maintenance contractors
• Participate in review of Work Instruction processes for continuous improvement and updating
• Carrying out routine preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work
• To carry out work in accordance with standard practice and procedure and, to specific requirements
• Maintaining a good document system and update records after work completion
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Specific Safety Responsibilities

• To comply with Departmental Work Instructions and all Rail related safety rules and procedures
• Responsible for the safety of departmental staff, related contractors and others working on the Electrical Power distribution & OCS system in the MRT premises

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualifications

• NITEC in Electrical Technology
   

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

• Preferably with relevant working experience in maintenance of HV and DC traction equipment
• Preferably Licensed Electrical Worker (Electrician Grade)
   

Knowledge / Skills

• Good interpersonal skill
