Analysis Services Developer

Reporting to the Analysis Systems Manager, the key responsibilities of this role are:

• Development and support of OLAP cubes using Microsoft Analysis Services 2008 R2


• Development and support of associated SQL and SSIS procedures and batch processes


• Delivery of data to the enterprise with a high level of accuracy and in a rigid timeframe.


• Meet user requirements for analysis solutions and deploy to the production environment

To be considered for this role, you’ll have:

• Proven hands-on experience designing, developing and supporting OLAP processing in a demanding environment.


• Minimum 4 years experience as an OLAP Developer and using Microsoft technology


• Demonstrated experience in interfacing with internal clients regarding information delivery


• Demonstrated experience in the production of information from data


• Experience and a strong understanding of business analysis techniques used when eliciting systems requirements from users


• High proficiency in the use of SQL, in particular TSQL


• Proven experience and capability to deliver data to the enterprise in a rigid timeframe.


• Proficient in database design techniques – relational and dimension designs 


• Ability to manage multiple maintenance, enhancement and project related tasks


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

You will:

• Meet user requirements for analysis solutions and deploy to the production environment


• Proactively monitor OLAP query times and identify opportunities for redevelopment of packages to meet acceptable query times


• Proactively monitor OLAP build times and and configuration of the production environment to optimise processing times


• React to incidents and provide immediate response


• Correct issues with OLAP in the production system, ensure root cause is identified and corrective steps are actioned


• Identify opportunities to refine processes to reduce time taken for reports to execute


• Collaborate with Data Warehouse Manager and Reporting Systems Manager to identify opportunities to redesign data structures to reduce system load


• Deploy changes to production according to change control processes


• Ensure all components of the OLAP cubes are tested and quality controlled.


• Ensure all development work is carried out in an environment where source code is controlled and change control is carefully managed.

This role requires an experienced Analysis Services (MS OLAP) Developer with a track record of understanding complex data schemas and working in a demanding environment.  The successful applicant will be highly productive, with a history of interpreting users requirements and building high performing and accurate OLAP solutions.

To be considered for this role, you’ll have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline


• Four or more years experience in working with MS OLAP technology


• Demonstrated experience building new OLAP solutions and deployment


• Demonstrated experience interacting with users for requirements and analysis on queries


• Proven ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a team.


• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services would be well regarded.
