Payroll & Compensation Accounting (APAC) | Tier-1 Global Financial Institution

Background

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join the Finance team, focusing on payroll and compensation accounting. This role will be responsible for overseeing compensation-related financial processes, ensuring accurate accounting treatment, and supporting a complex compensation structure typical of a Global Tier-1 financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Handle end-to-end payroll and compensation accounting processes, including monthly payroll, bonuses, incentives across Asia Pacific
2. Record and reconcile compensation-related entries in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness
3. Support the month-end and year-end close for all compensation-related accounts, including accruals, provisions, and disclosures
4. Ensure proper accounting treatment of complex compensation arrangements, including equity-based compensation and deferrals
5. Coordinate with external payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across jurisdictions
6. Manage tax filings, and tax compliance related to payroll and compensation
7. Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor queries

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2. 4–8 years of relevant experience in payroll accounting, compensation accounting (preferably within global financial institutions, management consulting or Big 4)
3. Strong understanding of payroll processing and compensation accounting
4. Experience working with multi-jurisdiction payroll environments and external payroll providers
5. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across Finance, HR, and Legal teams
