The Port Operations team supports the Singapore office operations staff in cargo care, stowage planning, and oversight of equipment supplied for cargo loading and securing on all owned and operated vessels, in accordance with the company’s code of practice.
Job Description
• Coordinate and oversee vessel operations during port calls, ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient execution.
• Provide port cost estimates, operational constraints, and feasibility assessments (draft, berth, terminal suitability) to support chartering and commercial teams.
• Gather, maintain, and update port intelligence, including facilities, restrictions, regulations, and service provider capabilities.
• Plan and supervise cargo operations in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (including IMSBC and Dangerous Goods Code).
• Develop and optimize cargo stowage and intake plans, considering vessel stability, cargo characteristics, and port conditions.
• Oversee cargo hold preparation, including cleaning, arranging supplies, inspection, and readiness as per charterer and cargo requirements.
• Liaise and build strong working relationships with vessel crew, port authorities, terminals, stevedores, agents, and other service providers.
• Lead and participate in operational meetings (pre-planning, port/terminal meetings) to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
• Monitor turnaround performance, identify operational risks, and drive cost optimization initiatives.
• Negotiate rates and agreements with stevedores, agents, and other port service providers.
• Support vessel inspections (commercial, vetting, fleet, QSHE) and related cargo/port assessments.
• Ensure accurate cargo documentation and timely reporting of delays, discrepancies, or damages.
• Update the commercial database with the latest information on stevedores, towage, underwater diving companies, surveyors, agency charges, and support negotiations of subcontractor agreements.
• Oversee maintenance, storage, and readiness of operational equipment where applicable.
• Provide project and operational support to chartering, cargo, and port-related initiatives.
Who we are looking for:
• Chief Officer, Master Mariner, or candidates with equivalent relevant maritime operational experience
• Able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across cultures and operating environments
• Highly diligent, organized, and collaborative team player
• Strong organizational, IT, and time-management skills under pressure and tight timelines
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
