We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to building experimental infrastructures for Materials Generative Design and Testing Framework. The role will focus on the design and development of high-throughput experiment setup, utilizations of advanced characterizations such as aberration-corrected electron microscopy, pair distribution function as well as XRD refinement to demystify the microstructure-property of new composition-disordered thermal materials and apply machine learning model to realize performance optimization afterward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-throughput synthesis platform for realizing rapid and smooth synthesis of disordered crystalline materials

  • Integrate coding and rapid synthesis techniques to achieve synthesis automation and performance optimization

  • Utilizing advanced characterization techniques to unfold the relationship of synthesis-microstructure-property

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams with computational/experimental backgrounds of chemistry, physics to refine the developed methods and workflows

  • Assist supervisor in grant writing

  • Maintenance of lab equipments or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers

  • Assist or produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings

  • Mentoring juniors in the group

  • Publish findings in high-impact journals and present research at conferences

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related field

  • Strong expertise and hands-on experience in high-throughput synthesis for new materials

  • Hands-on experience in advanced characterization techniques like aberration-corrected TEM

  • Hands-on experience in utilizing related softwares to do crystal structure analysis

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language for optimization (e.g., scikit-optimize using Python)

  • Interpersonal skills such as collaborating with internal and external researchers and lead the project

  • Demonstrated ability to publish in top-tier journals and work in a collaborative research environment

  • Skilled in academic writing and oral communication
