Private Equity Investment Director, Thailand / SEA, Leading Investment Firm

A leading investment firm is seeking an experienced private equity professional to join its Southeast Asia team. This individual will play a key role in originating and executing investments, as well as actively managing portfolio companies in line with the fund’s strategy. The position operates with oversight from senior leadership and carries a strong emphasis on deal sourcing in Thailand and select Southeast Asian markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deal Sourcing & Origination (Southeast Asia - Thailand focus)
2. Lead the sourcing of both proprietary and intermediary-led investment opportunities, with a primary focus on Thailand and selected Southeast Asian markets.
3. Leverage an established network across business owners, financial sponsors, banks, advisors, and intermediaries to generate high-quality deal flow.
4. Build and maintain a robust investment pipeline aligned with the fund’s thematic focus and return objectives.
5. Act as a representative of the platform in Thailand and the broader region, strengthening relationships and market presence.
6. Investment Evaluation & Execution
7. Develop investment theses and lead in-depth industry and company analysis, including competitive positioning and structural trends.
8. Oversee associates in financial modelling, valuation analysis, and scenario planning.
9. Lead the preparation of investment papers, presentations, and proposals for internal approvals and investment committee discussions.
10. Drive end-to-end transaction execution, including due diligence (commercial, financial, legal, tax, operational), structuring, and documentation in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
11. Portfolio Management
12. Work closely with portfolio company management teams to review strategic plans, budgets, and capital allocation decisions.
13. Monitor financial and operational performance, identifying value creation opportunities and managing key risks.
14. Support or lead exit processes, including trade sales, secondary transactions, and capital markets exits where relevant.
15. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
16. Guide junior team members in preparing portfolio updates and internal reporting materials.
17. Oversee the development of board papers and investor reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with governance standards.
18. Manage relationships with co-investors, advisors, and other stakeholders across the investment lifecycle.

Experience & Track Record

1. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in private equity, or investment banking / corporate finance within a leading institution, with strong exposure to Thailand and broader Southeast Asia.
2. Demonstrated track record in deal origination, execution, and portfolio value creation across the region.
3. Well-established network in Thailand and Southeast Asia, with the ability to translate relationships into tangible investment opportunities.

Technical & Analytical Skills

1. Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with advanced proficiency in Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
2. Deep understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, capital structures, and transaction structuring.
3. Ability to distil complex information into clear, concise, and compelling investment materials.
