Job Description - PROJECT ASSOCIATE WITH DEEP PROCUREMENT EXPERIENCE (6-MONTHS ONLY ROLE)

This is a fixed-term role of 6months to support a time-critical client project with a leading global medical device manufacturer. The successful candidate is expected to hit the ground running from day one, bringing strong procurement transformation experience, deep category expertise, and the ability to work directly with client teams to deliver measurable impact.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our client and project leadership to help transform a global procurement function, unlock sustainable cost savings, and build the capabilities required to deliver lasting performance improvement.

What you'll do

You will work as a core member of a procurement transformation team, partnering directly with client stakeholders to deliver initiatives across category strategy, cost savings, operating model redesign, procurement process improvement, and capability building.

You will bring deep expertise in procurement categories relevant to medical device manufacturing, including areas such as printed circuit board assemblies, electronic components, plastic injection moulding, silicone and rubber moulding, precision metal components, machined parts, tooling, packaging, contract manufacturing, and related engineered components. You will apply this expertise to identify savings opportunities, challenge supplier cost structures, improve category strategies, and support negotiations.

You will contribute to the day-to-day execution of the client project by gathering and analyzing data, developing category insights, building should-cost models, conducting cost benchmarking, formulating and testing hypotheses, and translating findings into practical recommendations for client leadership. You will also support the implementation of these recommendations with client team members to ensure measurable impact and sustainable results.

You will work directly with client teams, on site, and will help lead and develop client team members through structured problem solving, analytical coaching, procurement best-practice sharing, and hands-on capability building. You will be expected to build strong relationships with stakeholders across procurement, engineering, product development, manufacturing, quality, finance, and supply chain.

You will make an important contribution to the analysis, design, and implementation of procurement improvement initiatives, including category strategy development, supplier collaboration, design-to-value, should-cost modelling, procurement operating model redesign, organizational effectiveness, source-to-pay process improvement, digital procurement enablement, and performance management.

Ina collaborative team setting, you will work closely with others while also operating with a high degree of autonomy. Your analytical, quantitative, and conceptual problem-solving skills, combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills, will be critical to delivering high-quality client outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; Advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.) or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ to 4 years of business management and/or business consulting experience in a reputed company. As this is a short-term role involving work on urgent projects, experience working in a top-tier management consulting firm is highly advantageous.
  • As the project may involve working with representatives of our client’s other offices in the Asia Pacific region, prior work experience in the Asia Pacific region is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering procurement transformation and cost savings initiatives, ideally in medical devices, electronics, healthcare equipment, or similarly engineered-product environments.
  • Deep category expertise in several categories relevant to medical device manufacturing, such as Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), electronic components, semiconductors, plastic injection moulding, silicone or rubber moulding, tooling, contract manufacturing, and other engineered components.
  • Strong understanding of procurement operating models, category strategy design, supplier segmentation, strategic sourcing, negotiations, source-to-pay processes, supplier performance management, and digital procurement.
  • Strong practical experience in design-to-value, should-cost modelling, cost breakdown analysis, clean-sheet costing, cost benchmarking, and supplier cost reduction levers.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across procurement, engineering, product development, manufacturing, quality, finance, and supply chain.
  • Ability to support procurement operating model and organization design work, including role and responsibility definition, governance design, capability assessment, process redesign, and performance management.
  • Proven ability to build client capabilities through coaching, structured problem solving, analytical training, and hands-on support to client team members.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel modelling and the ability to work with large, imperfect data sets.
  • Proficiency in these technologies for internal and external communications: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Slack, Box and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
  • Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project
  • Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations
  • Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
  • As our client is English-speaking, ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
