Wood has an opportunity for a Project Engineer in Singapore with extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry.


There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian Pharmaceutical market. As a result of this, Construction Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.

The Role


The Project Engineer is accountable for the successful delivery of capital projects, ensuring zero safety or quality incidents, and completion within approved timelines and budgets. This role supports strategic site objectives by ensuring projects meet engineering, safety, and regulatory standards, and align with operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:


Project Planning & Initiation



  • Develop comprehensive project proposals, investment justifications, and business cases

  • Define scope, cost, schedule, and risk parameters aligned with strategic capital plan


Execution & Coordination



  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including internal stakeholders and external contractors.

  • Oversee engineering design (electrical, mechanical, process) and ensure alignment with operational needs.

  • Manage vendor contracts and ensure compliance with procurement and safety protocols


Monitoring & Control



  • Track project milestones, budgets, and schedules.

  • Administer change control processes and ensure all scope changes are authorized

  • Conduct validation activities and ensure readiness for audits and regulatory inspections


Post-Implementation & Continuous Improvement



  • Finalize technical closure and documentation

  • Support maintenance setup including calibration plans and spare parts assessments.

  • Drive productivity improvements and digital integration in project delivery


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):



  • Accuracy and timeliness of project proposals and funding approvals

  • Completion of projects within planned schedule and budget

  • Quality of technical documentation and stakeholder feedback

  • Compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards

  • Zero unauthorized scope changes or budget overruns

  • Timely resolution of audit findings and risk items

  • Achievement of project milestones and regulatory approvals

  • Effective financial governance and capitalization

  • Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

  • Attainment of site maturity targets and strategic capital planning goals

  • Contractor/vendor selection and procurement strategy

  • Project costing, scheduling, and execution approach

  • Approval of technical designs and installation validations

  • Supplier engagement and contingency utilization



Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:



  • Professional:

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.)

    Proven experience in project execution within industrial or regulated environments

    Familiarity with project controls and EPCM contractor management

  • Technical:

    Understanding of industrial standards, cost estimation, and scheduling

    Knowledge of GMP, GEP, GDP, EHS, and local SOPs

    Experience with project management frameworks and engineering standards

  • Business:

    Strong communication and reporting skills

    Analytical thinking and commercial awareness

    For senior roles: leadership capabilities, contractual knowledge, and business performance insight
