Public Area Supervisor

The Public Area Supervisor is responsible for supervising the cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of all public areas to ensure the hotel consistently meets brand standards and delivers an exceptional guest experience. The role oversees the Public Area Attendants, coordinates daily cleaning schedules, conducts inspections, and ensures compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of Public Area Attendants.
• Conduct regular inspections of all public areas, including the lobby, restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, corridors, lifts, washrooms, back-of-house areas, offices, and external hotel premises.
• Ensure all public areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Assign daily work schedules and monitor staff productivity and performance.
• Liaise with Engineering on maintenance defects and follow up until completion.
• Ensure adequate stock levels of cleaning chemicals, equipment, linen, and guest supplies.
• Train, coach, and motivate team members on cleaning standards, safety procedures, and service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH), hygiene, and hotel operating procedures.
• Respond promptly to guest requests, complaints, and special cleaning requirements.
• Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities to the team.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects, special events, VIP arrivals, and emergency cleaning requirements.
• Complete daily reports, inspection checklists, and incident documentation.
• Support the Executive Housekeeper in achieving departmental KPIs, quality audits, and guest satisfaction targets.

Requirements

• Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of housekeeping chemicals, cleaning equipment, and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with hotel quality standards and hygiene requirements.
• Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills; knowledge of Opera PMS or housekeeping systems is an advantage.
