Leads, trains, and supervises a team of buyers to efficiently procure assigned commodities materials to support manufacturing plants, and compliance with organizational policies Manage all materials shortages for assigned purchasing commodities in working closely with Supplier Account Management/Suppliers and respective functions to ensure supply continuity to keep production lines running. Coordinates/drives purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues. Take lead on internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication regarding material availability. Work with respective functions; engineering, MPM, SCM etc. to ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity and accuracy in driving materials requirement. Reviews MRP on a regular basis. Identifies issues and escalates as necessary to materials management. Reviews and ensures actions per disposition of ECOs on a worldwide basis. Maintains inventory levels per plan and performs E&Z analysis. Minimizes excess and zero demand inventory. Provides input to management regarding action plans to address long term issues. Design, develop and implement flexible solutions to aid Supply and Purchasing efficiency, drive process improvements and add value. Develops methods of business simplification for the procurement function. Assists or participates with the development of ISO documents for the purchasing function. Pulls and reads part specifications and engineering drawings. Utilizes knowledge of material types to communicate with engineers and suppliers. Provides feedback to engineering for cost reduction efforts. Guided by policies and resource requirements within business unit, department or sub-function" Demonstrates in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own job family and basic knowledge of other related job families Applies understanding of the industry and how own area contributes to the achievement of objectives Manages a generally homogeneous team; adapts plans and priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges Guides, influences and persuades others internally in related areas or externally
