Newmatic is a Singapore brand specialising in premium built-in kitchen appliances and related kitchen solutions. We operate across multiple international markets and are building a strong product-management capability to support our next stage of growth.

We are looking for a Product Manager with a genuine passion for appliances, strong product judgement and the ability to work closely with manufacturers in China. This is a hands-on role with meaningful authority over product selection, specifications, supplier evaluation, quality, design and commercial performance.

The successful candidate will be developed to become one of Newmatic’s key product leaders and custodians of the company’s product-selection and sourcing expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Portfolio Management

- Develop and manage Newmatic’s product roadmap across built-in kitchen appliances and related categories.

- Identify product gaps, market opportunities and emerging consumer trends.

- Recommend which products Newmatic should introduce, improve, reposition or discontinue.

- Ensure that every selected product fits Newmatic’s target customer, brand positioning, design direction and price strategy.

- Review product performance, customer feedback, warranty data and sales results.

Product Development

- Translate market requirements into clear product specifications and development briefs.

- Evaluate product design, functions, materials, components, performance and user experience.

- Work with factories to improve product appearance, durability, reliability and cost competitiveness.

- Coordinate product samples, testing, modifications and final approval.

- Maintain complete product records, specifications, test reports and development history.

Supplier and Factory Management

- Identify, assess and select suitable OEM and ODM manufacturers.

- Conduct factory visits, supplier comparisons and technical evaluations.

- Negotiate specifications, product costs, tooling, minimum order quantities and development timelines.

- Recommend the appointment, development or replacement of suppliers.

- Build strong long-term relationships with reliable manufacturing partners.

Quality and Launch Control

- Establish clear product approval and quality requirements before production.

- Review samples, inspection results, certifications and production readiness.

- Approve product specifications before commercial launch.

- Stop or delay a product launch when quality, safety, compliance or commercial requirements have not been met.

- Work with technical, sales, marketing and after-sales teams to ensure successful product launches.

Market and Commercial Management

- Study competitors, retail prices, product features and market developments.

- Work backwards from customer needs and target selling prices to establish viable product costs.

- Support the preparation of product positioning, sales materials, training and launch plans.

- Monitor product margins, sales performance, inventory movement, warranty claims and lifecycle profitability.

- Recommend corrective action when a product does not meet its commercial objectives.

Knowledge and Systems Development

- Document Newmatic’s product-development, supplier-selection and approval processes.

- Build product evaluation checklists, specification templates, supplier scorecards and launch controls.

- Transfer product knowledge to country managers, sales teams, technicians and customer-service staff.

- Help create a product-management system that can operate consistently across the Newmatic Group.

Decision-Making Authority

The Product Manager will be expected to exercise independent professional judgement and will have the authority, within approved company policies, to:

- Select and recommend factories and suppliers.

- Approve product specifications.

- Reject unsuitable products or suppliers, including those initially preferred by senior management, when supported by clear evidence and a better alternative.

- Require product modifications before approval.

- Stop or postpone a product launch when the product does not meet the required standard.

Every major decision must be supported by proper evaluation, documented comparisons and a clear commercial or technical rationale.

Requirements

- Degree or professional qualification in engineering, product design, industrial design, business, supply-chain management or a related discipline.

- Technical training or strong practical technical knowledge relevant to appliances, electrical products or consumer durables.

- Strong interest in kitchen appliances, product development and manufacturing.

- Good eye for product design, styling, proportions, materials, finishes and consumer appeal.

- Ability to understand product specifications, components, technical drawings, test reports and certification requirements.

- Strong commercial judgement, including understanding of product cost, selling price, margin and market positioning.

- Business-level proficiency in both English and Mandarin, as the role requires direct communication and negotiation with manufacturers and technical teams in China.

- Willingness and ability to relocate to China and travel regularly to factories, suppliers and international markets.

- Strong analytical, negotiation, documentation and project-management skills.

- Independent, disciplined and prepared to challenge decisions professionally when supported by evidence.

Preferred Experience

- Experience in kitchen appliances, home appliances, consumer electronics, furniture hardware, sanitary products or other design-led durable consumer goods.

- Experience working with Chinese OEM or ODM manufacturers.

- Experience in product sourcing, product development, engineering, quality control or category management.

- Understanding of international product certification, testing, quality inspection and manufacturing processes.

- Exposure to products sold in developing or international markets will be an advantage.

Candidates with strong technical ability, product judgement and potential may be considered even without extensive prior product-management experience.

Location

The position will initially involve orientation and training with Newmatic’s Singapore management team. The successful candidate must subsequently be prepared to relocate to China, with regular travel to supplier locations and Newmatic markets.
