Role Purpose:
Provide strategic risk oversight and leadership refined products, crude and related derivatives, supporting the continued growth and of BBE’s regional business.
Ensure robust risk governance, high-quality reporting, effective challenge to the trading desks, and strong alignment with global risk frameworks.
Be prepared to take a hands-on approach and cover book reporting as necessary to help support the team.
Help drive and enhance reporting change and innovation.
Accountabilities/Key Result Areas:
Risk Oversight & Governance
Take regional risk ownership of BBE Asia’s oil and product books.
Ensure consistent application of group risk policies, limits and controls across the region for Back Office, Product Control and Market Risk.
Be the local escalation point for risk issues, limit breaches and material exposures.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead, mentor and develop the regional risk team.
Act as a trusted risk partner to senior traders, regional management and global risk leaders.
Provide constructive challenge to trading strategies, new business initiatives and complex structures.
Reporting
Oversee the production and quality of daily P&L, VAR and exposure reported to traders and senior management and ensure all daily changes are quantified and explained.
Ensure transparency and accuracy of MTM value across physical and derivative portfolios.
Systems, Processes & Controls
Oversee regional use of the ETRM systems to ensure accurate representation of trading activity.
Work closely with Operations and Trade Finance to ensure timely and accurate capture of cost accruals, BL dates and quantities.
Support and enhance month-end reconciliation processes between Risk and Accounts.
Contribute to the ongoing development of risk control documentation and frameworks.
External Interfaces
Oversee engagement with PRAs and brokers for market data and assessments relevant to the region.
Ensure appropriate governance over market data inputs and price validation.

Skills and experience necessary for success in the role.
At least 7-8 yrs experience working in physical oil and oil product markets.
Experience with ‘Symphony’ ETRM is a highly preferable.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business with CFA, MBA, CA, or other related education a plus.
Understanding of trading, operations, risk and mid/back office business processes, policies and controls.
Strong analytical skills – ability to understand impact of market changes on PnL as well as an economic event in the lifecycle of a deal.
Strong in financial derivatives (swaps, futures and options) ideally with experience managing VAR.
Strong Excel skills are essential, Power BI, SQL & Python a plus.
