The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. The role of the Research Assistant is to support laboratory research in experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. The research group works on quantum simulations with top notch setups on ultracold molecules and fermionic atoms in optical lattices. The research assistant is expected to contribute by taking on technical tasks and helping in advancing the applied aspects of the research. This entails working on different technologies like diode laser systems, experimental control hardware and software, high frequency electronics, fiber optics, etc. There is a variety of such systems that need to be further developed or maintained. The Research Assistant helps establishing system reliability for efficient data taking. Further, lab infrastructure and organization need to be maintained in collaboration with other group members.
An undergraduate degree in physics is required with some previous research experience in experimental physics. Ideally, the candidate would have some experience working on optical setups or laser technology. Expertise in computer hardware would be welcome. Clear communication in English is a prerequisite. We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who is able to integrate into the team working to common objectives.
