Job Description - Research Fellow (Experimental and Behavioural Economics/Health Economics)

The role is part of NTU's Experimental and Behavioral Economics group in the Economics Programme at the School of Social Sciences. The team conducts laboratory and online experiments, alongside applied empirical work, to study individual and strategic decision-making, market behavior, and policy-relevant questions. Using experimental methods, econometrics, and statistics, we aim to generate innovative insights into economic behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research in experimental and behavioural economics, health economics, and behavioural health interventions.

  • Programming experiments with z-Tree, oTree, and Python.

  • Running computerized laboratory, online, and field experiments.

  • Recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants

  • Performing research duties (e.g., IRB protocol, research grant administration and accounting, maintaining budgets, submitting reimbursement requests, database management, data entry, and data coding)

  • Conducting economic evaluations of health interventions, including measuring health benefits and health impacts of policy interventions using Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) and related cost-effectiveness metrics.

  • Compiling, processing, and analyzing experimental and trial data using statistical and econometric software such as Stata and (or) R.

  • Engaging in academic activities (drafting papers, preparing reports and grant documents, and presenting findings at seminars and conferences).

Job Requirements

  • A PhD in Economics specializing in Experimental and Behavioural Economics and/or Health Economics.

  • A good track record of research and work-in-progress.

  • Experience in designing and conducting laboratory and field experiments in experimental and behavioural economics.

  • Proficiency in programming experiments using z-Tree, oTree, and Python.

  • Familiarity with behavioural health interventions and behavioural nudges.

  • Excellent data analytics and econometric skills; proficient in programming and in Stata and R.

  • Some experience with randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and in conducting economic evaluations, including QALYs and the measurement of health benefits and health impacts of policy interventions.
