The role is for a research fellow to conduct experimental research in quantum optics, nanophotonics, and light-matter interaction at EEE/NTU.

The researcher will study and control collective and single-emitter light-matter interactions in advanced photonic structures, contributing to fundamental quantum science and future quantum technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, set up, conduct, and analyse experiments in quantum optics, nanophotonics, and light-matter interaction.

  • Develop and operate single-photon spectroscopy, Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT), Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM), and related optical spectroscopy measurements.

  • Investigate collective quantum optical effects enabled by nanophotonic platforms, including superradiance, superfluorescence, and quantum imaging.

  • Study strong light-matter interaction in the single-emitter regime and optical spectroscopy of nanoscale systems with embedded quantum emitters.

  • Characterise photonic structures and quantum-emitter systems, maintain rigorous experimental records, and ensure safe laboratory practice.

  • Collaborate with EEE/NTU researchers and project partners; contribute to publications, presentations, reports, and research proposals.

  • Support mentoring and training of students and junior researchers in relevant experimental techniques.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • Strong experimental experience in quantum optics, single-photon spectroscopy, HBT, HOM, and optical spectroscopy of nanoscale quantum-emitter systems.

  • Experience with nanophotonic platforms, quantum emitters, and light-matter interaction is desirable.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and scientific communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
