Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will lead and oversee sales activities within the modern trade sector, focusing on large-scale retail outlets such as supermarkets, hypermarkets, and chain stores. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue growth, increase market share, and strengthen brand presence within modern trade channels. You will lead a team of sales professionals, manage key accounts, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve sales targets and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies tailored to the modern trade sector, aligning with overall business objectives and market trends.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of sales representatives, providing guidance, coaching, and support to optimize their performance and achieve sales targets.
  3. Key Account Management: Build and maintain relationships with key accounts within the modern trade sector, including negotiating contracts, managing pricing, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  4. Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the modern trade sector, prospecting for new accounts and expanding the company's presence in the market.
  5. Sales Forecasting and Planning: Forecast sales volumes, set sales targets, and develop sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals within modern trade channels.
  6. Promotional Activities: Collaborate with marketing teams to plan and execute promotional activities, product launches, and marketing campaigns aimed at driving sales and increasing brand visibility in modern trade outlets.
  7. Performance Analysis: Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data and metrics, and identify areas for improvement or optimization within modern trade channels.
  8. Market Intelligence: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences within the modern trade sector, using market insights to inform sales strategies and decision-making.
  9. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including marketing, product development, supply chain, and finance teams, to ensure alignment and coordination in executing sales strategies and achieving business objectives.
  10. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and provide regular reports and updates on sales performance, market trends, and key account activities to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in sales management, preferably within the modern trade or retail industry.
  • At least 3-5 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry, preferably in the food and beverages industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to drive informed decision-making.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Familiarity with modern trade operations, retail merchandising, and supply chain logistics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
