School Science Laboratory Technician (Contract / Cedar Area)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and competent Science Laboratory Technician to assist the teaching team and support the smooth execution of science programmes at a primary school in the Cedar Avenue area. This contract will run from 29 June 2026 to 28 June 2027 with an option to extend for an additional year.

Working Hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (includes 1-hour lunch break)
• Off on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lesson Support: Support inquiry-based learning and assist teachers in preparing materials/apparatus for science practical lessons and assessments.
• Lab Management: Oversee operations, care, and maintenance of two science laboratories and learning environments (including school gardens and science corners).
• Inventory Control: Source and procure necessary lab equipment/materials, maintain updated inventory lists of consumables, and monitor usage tracking.
• Safety & First Aid: Maintain strict laboratory safety protocols and serve as a certified first aider if required.
• Event Logistics: Provide logistics support and supervision during classes, science workshops, and school events to ensure safe laboratory tool usage.
• Administration: Deliver general administrative support as assigned by the school administration.

Job Requirements

• Education: Minimum NITEC Diploma or GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience working as a lab technician, preferably within a Ministry of Education (MOE) primary school environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Practical Abilities: Comfortable handling chemicals and live science specimens (e.g., insects).
• Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with teachers and young students.
