Senior Application Engineer (FX Trading & Liquidity Operations – Korea Market)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced ApplicationEngineer to support mission-critical Foreign Exchange (FX) electronict rading platforms servicing the Korean financial market. The rolecombines production application support, liquidity management, trading operations, client onboarding, and market connectivity across multiplel iquidity providers and execution venues.

The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Liquidity Management, Operations, Development, Infrastructure,and Korean business stakeholders to ensure high availability, optimal pricing,and seamless execution of FX products.

Key Responsibilities

FX Trading Platform Support

• Provide Level 2/3 production support for institutional FX trading platforms operating in a 24x5 trading environment.
• Support electronic trading applications including pricing engines, matching engines, market gateways, FIX gateways, OMS, and risk management systems.
• Monitor application health, order flow, pricing latency, quote distribution, and trade execution.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents with minimal impact to trading activities.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions.

Liquidity Management

• Monitor and maintain connectivity with multiple Liquidity Providers (LPs), Prime Brokers, ECNs, and market makers.
• Configure and maintain liquidity pools, pricing streams, spread configurations, and execution parameters.
• Analyze quote quality, fill ratios, rejected trades, execution latency, and pricing anomalies.
• Monitor liquidity provider performance and escalate pricing or connectivity issues.
• Support liquidity switching, failover mechanisms, and venue management during production incidents.
• Validate market data integrity and ensure accurate pricing distribution to downstream clients.

Korea Market Operations

• Provide operational support for the Korean FX business during local market hours.
• Support KRW Spot, KRW NDF, FX Swaps, Forward contracts, and Cross Currency products.
• Coordinate with Korean banks, brokers, liquidity providers, and institutional clients for trading-related issues.
• Support market opening and closing activities, holiday configurations, settlement calendars, and trading session management.
• Monitor Korea-specific regulatory requirements affecting electronic trading operations.
• Assist business users with onboarding new Korean institutional clients and liquidity providers.

Application& Infrastructure Support

• Support Java-based distributed applications running on Linux environments.
• Troubleshoot issues involving Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Analyze JVM performance, thread dumps, heap dumps, and application logs.
• Support CI/CD deployments using Jenkins, GitLab CI, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• Automate operational tasks using Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.
• Perform production deployments, rollback procedures, and configuration management.

FIX Connectivity

• Configure and troubleshoot FIX Protocol sessions with banks, ECNs, Prime Brokers, and institutional clients.
• Support FIX Logon, Market Data, Order Routing, Trade Capture, and Drop Copy sessions.
• Investigate FIX message sequencing, session disconnects, rejects, and connectivity issues.
• Coordinate certification and onboarding of new FIX counterparties.

ProductionMonitoring

• Monitor production systems using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, Splunk, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace.
• Create dashboards and alerts for pricing latency, liquidity health, execution performance, and application availability.
• Analyze CPU, memory, network utilization, JVM metrics, and application throughput.
• Participate in disaster recovery exercises and business continuity testing.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 5–10 years supporting electronic FX trading systems.
• Strong knowledge of institutional Foreign Exchange markets.
• Experience with liquidity aggregation and Smart Order Routing.
• Experience supporting KRW Spot and KRW NDF products.
• Strong understanding of electronic market making and pricing workflows.
• Hands-on experience with FIX Protocol (4.2/4.4/5.0).
• Linux system administration experience.
• Strong SQL skills with MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle.
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
• Experience supporting Java enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or cloud-native deployments.
• Experience using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, or AppDynamics.
• Proficiency in Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.
• Experience with Git, Maven, Jenkins, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting Korean financial institutions or FX trading desks.
• Familiarity with Korean market conventions, settlement cycles, and KRW trading workflows.
• Knowledge of liquidity aggregation platforms such as oneZero, PrimeXM, Integral, Currenex, 360T, EBS, or FXAll.
• Experience supporting low-latency trading infrastructure.
• Familiarity with MAS and Korean financial regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Understanding of market risk, credit risk, and trade lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities in Daily Operations

• Monitor live liquidity across multiple providers and execution venues.
• Resolve pricing gaps, stale quotes, and execution failures.
• Perform client onboarding and liquidity provider onboarding.
• Coordinate with Korean business users during trading hours.
• Execute production deployments with zero trading disruption.
• Support production incidents and maintain 99.99% system availability.
• Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.
• Participate in 24×5 production support and on-call rotation.
