ROLE
Kennedys Legal Solutions is looking for a mid-senior level lawyer to join its Marine team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling dry shipping and international trade disputes in international arbitration and in litigation, preferably with experience in the Far East. Asian language skills would be advantageous.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who is keen on working in a highly regarded and fast growing marine team in an established international law firm. The lawyer will be exposed to a wide range of both Singapore and international work.

CASES

• Marine related disputes involving charterparties, contracts of affreightment, bills of landing, ship construction contracts, sale and purchase, general average and tonnage limitation
• Marine Insurance
• Commodities / International Trade disputes
• Advice on regulatory, sanctions and compliance issues
• International arbitrations in London and across Asia.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 3-7 PQE* with specialised shipping knowledge and experience in arbitration as well as Court proceedings.
• Singapore and/or English qualification preferred.
• Experience in London arbitration is desirable.
• For Singapore Qualified Lawyers, experience with Singapore Admiralty Court matters and dealing with ship arrests is useful.

TEAM
Kennedys Singapore office was established in 2008 and in 2015 entered into a joint law venture (JLV) with local Singapore law firm, Legal Solutions LLC to create Kennedys Legal Solutions. Kennedys Legal Solutions is the Singapore office of the international law firm Kennedys which has 78 offices and associated office/cooperations around the world. Our joint law venture enables our lawyers to appear as counsel in Singapore court proceedings. This gives us the advantage to work on multi-jurisdictional matters where clients require lawyers equally comfortable in handling proceedings in Singapore, London and elsewhere. While other firms may operate with similar structures, few, if any, are able to operate as seamlessly as we do.
The Singapore office established 16 years ago have become one of Singapore's leading shipping practices with an admirable list of clients (many of whom are industry leaders) and mandates. As part of the Kennedys global marine team with about 100 shipping lawyers worldwide, our team is highly experienced in international arbitration and litigation, and regularly act for owners and charterers in LMAA, SCMA, HKIAC and ad hoc shipping and trade arbitrations. Our Marine Partners also have strong market reputations with each having over 20 years of experience in the region, and are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators appointed as arbitrators on shipping and trade disputes.
