Job Description - Senior Associate Director

About SOG Design

At SOG Design, we believe that exceptional spaces have the power to transform how people live, work, and connect. Based in Singapore with a growing presence across Asia Pacific, we are a design-focused studio bringing together passionate designers, strategists, and craftspeople united by a shared vision: creating environments that are as purposeful as they are inspiring.

Our work spans a diverse range of typologies — from commercial interiors and hospitality destinations to workplaces and large-scale built environment projects. We embrace design technology, from immersive visualisation and 3D modelling to digital fabrication tools, and we cultivate a studio culture that champions creativity, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Role Summary

SOG Design is seeking a Senior Associate Director to lead design excellence across our mixed-portfolio practice spanning residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. This is a senior leadership role for a confident design professional who thrives at the intersection of creative vision and project delivery — someone who inspires teams, owns client relationships, and shapes the direction of our Singapore studio.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership

–     Lead design and technical delivery across complex, high-profile projects spanning residential, commercial, and hospitality typologies, maintaining consistently high creative standards.

–    Champion design innovation within the studio — setting the bar for quality, encouraging bold ideas, and ensuring every project reflects SOG Design's commitment to thoughtful, place-specific architecture.

–    Mentor and develop junior and mid-level designers through hands-on guidance, constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of curiosity and collaboration.

–    Drive brainstorming sessions and design reviews, shaping the creative direction of multiple concurrent projects.

Project and Client Management

–    Serve as the primary client liaison on key accounts; build and sustain trusted relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.

–    Lead client presentations with clarity and confidence, translating complex design concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.

–    Collaborate closely with Directors on project strategy, fee structures, and scope management, ensuring financial targets and resource allocations are met.

–    Coordinate cross-disciplinary consultants and contractors across APAC projects, proactively resolving design and technical challenges.

Business Development and Studio Culture

–     Actively support business development initiatives — contributing to fee proposals, tender documents, and client pitches alongside senior leadership.

–    Represent SOG Design at industry events, forums, and professional networks to elevate the studio's profile and identify new opportunities.

–    Initiate and participate in knowledge-sharing activities: workshops, peer reviews, and studio-wide learning sessions.

–    Contribute to a studio culture where best practices are shared openly, diverse perspectives are valued, and high performance is the norm.

Collaboration& Studio Culture

–     Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing positively to team dynamics and creative discussions.

–     Support junior team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance where appropriate.

–     Engage proactively with new design tools, emerging technologies, and industry trends to enhance studio capabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

–     Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related design discipline.

–    Minimum10 years of progressive experience in architectural or interior, with a strong portfolio across residential, commercial, and/or hospitality project types.

–    Proven track record of leading large-scale, design-led projects through all stages — from concept to construction completion — within Singapore and the broader APAC region.

–    Demonstrable experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams and client accounts at a senior level.

Skills and Competencies

–     Proficient in Revit (essential); working knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and project collaboration tools (e.g. BIM 360, Bluebeam).

–     Strong command of written and spoken English

–     Commercially astute — comfortable with fee management, scope change protocols, and project financial reporting.

–     Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

–     Organised, decisive, and calm under pressure; able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines without compromising quality.

–     Willing to travel regionally as project needs require.

Who You Are

–     A genuine design enthusiast — passionate about architecture, spatial experience, and the craft of making well-considered places.

–     A natural collaborator who leads by example, earns trust across all levels of the team, and creates an environment where people do their best work.

–     Intellectually curious and market-aware; you keep across emerging design trends, materials innovation, and shifts in the Singapore and APAC development landscape.

–    Proactive and solutions-oriented — you raise issues early, think ahead, and bring clarity to ambiguous situations.

Please note that this role does not involve the performance or representation of regulated architectural services, and the successful candidate will not act as an Architect or Qualified Person (QP)under the Architects Act. We welcome applicants with an architectural background who are excited to apply their skills within a dynamic, design-led studio environment.
