Senior Associate, Retail & Consumer Investments (Asia), Global Investment Firm

A leading global investment institution is seeking a Senior Associate (7 years experience) to join its Asia Retail & Consumer Investments team based in Singapore. This is a newly created position within a lean and expanding regional team, offering strong exposure to deal sourcing and execution across Asia-Pacific.

The Senior Associate will support and execute minority investment transactions across the retail and consumer sector in Asia-Pacific, with active deal flow in China, Indonesia, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Due to the lean team set‑up, the successful candidate will gain end-to-end involvement in the investment lifecycle — including sourcing, market analysis, due diligence, valuation, and execution. While active portfolio management is not a major focus, the role includes light portfolio monitoring for existing minority stakes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and lead elements of deal sourcing, market mapping, and sector research within the retail and consumer landscape.
• Conduct financial modelling, valuation analyses, and prepare investment assessments.
• Manage due diligence workstreams across internal stakeholders and external advisors.
• Draft investment papers and presentations for senior leadership and committees.
• Undertake periodic monitoring and analysis of existing portfolio companies.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across global investment teams.

Candidate Requirements:

• Approximately 7 years of relevant experience in investment banking (must have consumer/retail coverage) or global private equity.
  • Candidates with ~5 years may be considered at the Associate level.
• Strong experience in M&A execution, financial analysis, and investment evaluation.
• Solid understanding of retail and consumer business models, operations, and key drivers.
• Excellent financial modelling, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently and manage multiple workstreams in a lean, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is essential. This role covers the China market, where Mandarin is widely used in business discussions, reports, and communication with local management teams and partners. The ability to read and communicate in Mandarin is necessary to carry out these responsibilities effectively.
