Job Description - Senior Data Support Engineer

Thoughtworks Singapore will be shortlisting applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore i.e. Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents only.

As a Senior Data Support Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing mission-critical data platforms. You will ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of data operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Your expertise in incident management, data pipeline optimization, and operational excellence will be critical in aligning DAMO™ Managed Services with business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Collaborate with system and data engineers to diagnose and resolve incidents affecting data operations with minimal disruption.

Utilize incident management tools, data monitoring metrics, and reporting mechanisms to proactively identify and address issues.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for reliable, timely delivery.

Enforce data quality standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

Apply best practices to improve data system stability, availability, and efficiency.

Support continuous delivery of high-quality data solutions.

Utilize logging techniques for effective alerting, monitoring, and root cause analysis.

Optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.

Assist with deploying features and fixes, ensuring smooth integration into production.

Maintain documentation and mentor junior team members to share operational knowledge and technical expertise.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

Proficient in data processing frameworks such as Spark and Hadoop.

Experienced with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.

Strong understanding of data models and pipeline operations.

Skilled in developing APIs within microservice architectures.

Familiar with monitoring and alerting tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch.

Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities for data issues.

Knowledgeable in Agile practices including Scrum and Kanban.

(Desirable) Exposure to Python, Java (Spring Boot), frontend frameworks like Angular/React, and knowledge of architectural styles such as monolithic, layered, microservices, and serverless.

Professional Skills

Advocate for technical excellence while remaining adaptable to change.

Possess strong communication and articulation skills.

Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and approaching problems from different angles.

Experienced in mentoring and guiding junior consultants.

Willing to participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation when required.
