The Role:

Our client is a renowned operator in the maritime industry. They are looking to strengthen the legal bench with this hire.

This role provides end-to-end legal, claims, and insurance support across the group. You will advise on a wide range of corporate and commercial shipping matters, including drafting and negotiating agency agreements, charterparties, slot and joint service agreements, terminal agreements, and MOAs for vessel sale and purchase. The position also involves managing charterparty disputes, liaising with P&I Clubs, insurers, brokers, and external counsel, and handling cargo and container claims from investigation through resolution, recovery, and loss prevention.

Requirements:

• LLB or LLM from a recognised university
• 10-15 years' PQE in maritime law, gained in private practice and/or in-house within shipping
• Strong knowledge of admiralty law and international maritime conventions
• Hands-on experience with charterparties, shipping contracts, and claims
• Qualification in a common law jurisdiction (e.g. UK or Singapore) preferred
