The Senior Manager, Design is responsible for leading the design and optimisation of efficient, cost-effective chiller plant and airside systems, supporting both project acquisition and delivery across the organisation. This role provides strategic technical leadership, drives design excellence, and ensures alignment with business objectives, sustainability targets, and regulatory requirements.
The role also leads and develops the design team across local and regional operations, ensuring consistent standards, capability building, and delivery excellence across multiple markets.
Working closely with Business Development, Projects, and cross-functional teams, the Senior Manager, Design oversees solution development, manages key client engagements, and ensures successful technical execution throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the design team locally and regionally, ensuring capability development, standardisation, and performance across all markets
Oversee site surveys, technical due diligence, and feasibility assessments to identify constraints, risks, and opportunities
Drive design strategy and optimisation, including system configuration, equipment selection, and lifecycle performance benchmarking
Review and validate simulations and modelling outputs to ensure robust evaluation and alignment with operational and commercial objectives
Partner with Business Development to shape competitive, innovative technical solutions for tenders, proposals, and client engagements
Provide technical leadership in achieving Green Mark certification, including gap analysis and strategic recommendations
Oversee regulatory approvals and grant applications, ensuring compliance and timely submissions across jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and sustainability frameworks across all projects
Lead cross-functional coordination to align design intent with execution across design, build, and operations
Engage and influence stakeholders, including clients, authorities, and senior management
Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and best practices across the organisation
Mentor and develop team members, building a strong technical and leadership pipeline
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related field (sustainability-related qualifications preferred)
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated experience leading teams
Mandatory certifications: BCA Energy Auditor, SCEM
Possessing GMAP/GMAAP would be advantageous
Strong expertise in ACMV system design, energy optimisation, and simulation tools
Experience managing multi-country or regional design teams preferred
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior clients and authorities
Proven ability to drive innovation, standardisation, and organisational capability building
