Senior Procurement Manager (New Product Sourcing), Supply Chain - Collaborative Environment

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sourcing/ Procurement Engineering Department manager to join our high esteem team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of procurement engineers, collaborating closely with various team, ensuring successful new product/project execution within budget, maintaining a high level of quality and adherence to organizational objectives.  

As a sourcing/procurement engineering manager, you play a key role in ensuring the team for creating project budgets and overseeing the development and successful execution of projects.

This position requires the incumbent to have a strong technical knowledge and working experience in direct material management, new product sourcing and procurement experience. Good engineering background and program management will be advantage. Able to communicate with all levels of management with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The incumbent is required to demonstrate competencies: Collaborative, Competitive, Creative, Reliable and Leadership. Ensures that all projects and programs assigned are completed in accordance with requirements, with specific attention to product/process specifications, costs, resource utilization, and in line with project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in material sourcing, develop metric in choosing suitable suppliers.
• Drive and partner significant product cost reduction activities, in early phase innovation working closely with program managers, design engineers and/or in the manufacturing phase.
• Ensure that Cost, Quality and Availability are achieved for product development phase and through their full life cycle for all projects handled by the team.
• Manage cost roadmap information and presentation / updates to key stakeholders.
• Ensure early supplier involvement and identifies cost drivers to influence design decision making and achieve target costing.
• Review and negotiate supplier terms and conditions exceptions to mitigate risk.
• Manage procurement quotes, documents, etc. to support engineering and factory requirements.
• Perform new product sourcing and management. Work with Engineering, Quality, Commodity and NPI to ensure success of new product development and launch.
• Interpret business challenges and recommends best practices in line industry best practices to improve performance of team and processes that drive significant change.
• Build strong, value-added relationships with suppliers, internal customers and cross functional departments.
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier/component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects.
• Analyze lead times, identify critical paths and prioritize demand requirements.
• Drive material supply chain management strategies to deliver and meet the new project cost and delivery objective.
• Participate in project meetings / brainstorming sessions to identify solutions available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering with 8 years or more of relevant experience. Purchasing experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings.
• Experience creating or modifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Experience working with overseas suppliers
• Understand Bill of Material (BOM) structure, able to interpret technical drawings / specifications and familiar with Engineering Change Process
• Experience in Operation Management or capital equipment design is a plus.
• Strong Organization and Leadership skills, attention to detail and able to multi-task effectively
• Strong Analytical, planning and interpersonal skills as well as experience in engaging stakeholders
• Positive and able to work in fast-paced environment.
• Mature, independent and results-oriented
• Able to work with different departments / functional groups.
• Some travel is required for the role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
