JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gain a thorough understanding of the ship-broking industry.
- Assist in monitoring vessel operations and itineraries, learning to anticipate potential issues.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders such as vessel owners, charterers, port authorities, agents, and shipbrokers.
- Ensure timely and proper handling of emails and other communications.
- Learn and adhere to industry regulations, operational procedures, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with team members to efficiently resolve operational issues.
- Assist counterparties with demurrage and other claims related to shipments.
- Issue broker commission invoices and follow up on outstanding invoices.
- Maintain updated records in the in-house tracking software.
- Participate in on-the-job training to develop practical skills and knowledge.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum diploma or equivalent qualification required.
- Position open to Singaporean citizens only.
- Candidates without prior academic background in shipping are welcome; emphasis on willingness to learn, excel, and work hard.
- Strong work ethic is a must.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications is necessary.
- The trainee position involves fully in-house and hands-on training.
- Commitment to at least one year in the operation, post-fixture, and claims department.
- Career progression discussed mutually with supervisors after the initial year.
