Job Description

The Foster Care Worker(FCW) supports children who are placed in foster care or alternative out-of-home care arrangements. The role involves comprehensive case management, delivery of trauma-informed interventions, and close collaboration with foster families, natural families, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety, stability, and well-being of children.

Key responsibilities include:

·       Child Safeguarding & Well-being
Monitor the safety, health, emotional well-being, and development of children-in-care through regular home visits, check-ins, and assessments.

·       Support to Foster Parents
Provide guidance, emotional support, and practical advice to foster parents in managing caregiving challenges, behavioural concerns, and placement adjustments.

·       Case Management & Care Planning
Develop, implement, and review care plans in collaboration with MSF and relevant stakeholders, ensuring the child’s best interests remain central.

·       Family Engagement & Reunification Work
Support and facilitate contact with natural families where appropriate, and contribute to planning for reunification or long-term permanency.

·       Crisis & Placement Management
Respond to urgent concerns, including medical or safety issues, and coordinate respite care or alternative arrangements when required.

·       Inter-agency Coordination
Liaise with MSF, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure holistic support for the child and family.

·       Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate case records, reports, and assessments in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.

·       Training & Advocacy
Encourage foster parent training and advocate for the needs and best interests of children-in-care.

Requirements

• Degree or Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Work
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with children and families, or at least 4 years of experience in the social service sector
• Experience in working with families, addressing parenting challenges, and managing complex child welfare cases.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and attachment issues is an advantage.
• Good report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in more than 2 languages is preferred.
• Able to work independently, open to learning, and adaptable.
• Responsible, resilient, flexible, self-motivated, and a team player.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends when required (time-off in lieu provided).
