Job Description - Sr. Manager, Package Design/Development Quality Assurance

ID:\n\nJR95530 Sr. Manager, Package Design/Development Quality Assurance\n\nOur vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.\n\nMicron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.\n\nAs a Package Design/Development Quality Assurance (DDQA) Senior Manager in Micron\u2019s Global Quality (GQ) organization, you will lead a highly specialized engineering team responsible for enabling the successful introduction of Micron\u2019s most advanced package technologies.\n\nThis role is central to ensuring that chip\u2011package interaction risks, reliability concerns, and customer integration challenges are identified and mitigated early\u2014before they impact product qualification, customer deployment, or field performance. You will work closely with Technology Development, Design, Assembly, and customer\u2011facing teams to drive deep technical understanding of package\u2011level failure mechanisms, define robust characterization and reliability strategies, and guide critical engineering trade\u2011offs.\n\nBeyond execution, this role offers the opportunity to shape next\u2011generation package technology by driving lessons learned into future designs, influencing industry practices, and publishing technical work that advances Micron\u2019s leadership position. Success requires a leader who can combine technical authority, people leadership, and cross\u2011functional influence to deliver both near\u2011term results and long\u2011term technology impact.\n\nResponsibilities and Tasks \n\nTechnical \u0026 DDQA Leadership\n\n * Lead DDQA strategy for new package technology introductions, with focus on CPI and customer integration risks\n * Drive early identification and mitigation of package\u2011level reliability and interaction risks\n * Define and oversee characterization and reliability test strategies\n * Guide development of fundamental understanding of package\u2011related failure mechanisms\n * Ensure effective root cause analysis and closure of package technology quality issues\n * Drive systematic capture and reuse of lessons learned in next\u2011generation technologies\n * Act as a technical escalation point for package\u2011related customer quality and integration issues\n\n\n\nPeople \u0026 Team Leadership\n\n * Lead, mentor, and develop a highly technical DDQA engineering team\n * Set clear expectations, performance goals, and development plans for direct reports\n * Build technical depth, engagement, and succession within the organization\n * Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence\n\n\n\nTechnology Advancement \u0026 Industry Impact\n\n * Drive internal and external technical publications related to package reliability and CPI\n * Mentor engineers in technical writing and thought leadership\n * Contribute innovative solutions that advance Micron\u2019s package technology roadmap\n\n\n\nOperational Excellence \u0026 Governance\n\n * Own resource planning and drive efficiency improvements\n * Define and track DDQA performance metrics\n * Ensure compliance with training, safety, and ethical standards\n * Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and execution\n\n\n\nExperience \n10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: \n\u2022 Packaging Technology, Assembly Engineering, Product Quality and Reliability Engineering, and/or Failure \nAnalysis\n\n \nQualifications \n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to lead and develop senior technical engineers \n\u2022 Strong knowledge of semiconductor package assembly and surface\u2011mount processes \n\u2022 Solid understanding of thermomechanical, thermal, mechanical, and hygroscopic stress effects on package \nreliability \n\u2022 Working knowledge of industry reliability test methods, acceleration models, and sampling statistics \n\u2022 Experience applying FMEA and structured problem\u2011solving methodologies (e.g., 8D) \n\u2022 Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear technical decisions \n\u2022 Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes in complex technical environments\n\nJob Profile(s):\n\nQuality Engineering Manager 2\n\nRelocation level: (TBD)\n\nBefore Getting Started \nPlease review Micron\u2019s Internal Job Application Policy on your regional PeopleNow Career Opportunities page before searching and applying for jobs.
