We are looking for a Steamer (Shang Palace) to join our team!
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dim sum, seafood, meats, vegetables, and other dishes using steaming techniques in accordance with Shang Palace standards.
- Ensure all steamed dishes are prepared consistently and presented according to established recipes and plating guidelines.
- Perform daily mise en place and prepare ingredients required for steaming operations.
- Monitor steaming times, temperatures, and cooking processes to maintain product quality and food safety.
- Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and quality before preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of steaming stations, kitchen equipment, and work areas at all times.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food products in compliance with HACCP standards.
- Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment, and minimizing food wastage.
- Support the Chefs and culinary team during daily operations, promotions, and special events.
- Adhere to all hotel policies, food safety regulations, and workplace health and safety standards.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a Chinese kitchen, preferably in a hotel or high-volume restaurant environment.
- Experience in preparing and cooking steamed Chinese dishes, dim sum, or Cantonese cuisine.
- Good knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and Chinese culinary practices.
- Familiarity with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards, including HACCP requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive work attitude.
- Attention to detail and commitment to food consistency and presentation.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
