Role Overview

Role purpose

Consulting and supply chain analytics

• Engage partner organisations to clarify objectives, operational challenges, data availability and expected outcomes.
• Support technical supply chain solutions and operational reviews covering processes, transport, routing, warehousing, inventory management, forecasting and planning.
• Collect, clean, structure, analyse and visualise quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, bottlenecks, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Use process mapping, field observations, stakeholder interviews and historical operational data to document the current state and design practical future-state solutions.
• Contribute to the design, testing and evaluation of pilot initiatives, helping translate results into evidence-based recommendations and measurable next steps.
• Prepare high-quality reports, dashboards, management presentations and decision materials for technical and non-technical audiences.

Project coordination and stakeholder engagement 

• Coordinate project activities, task teams, workplans, milestones, timelines and progress reporting.
• Support the planning and organisation of workshops, training sessions, process-mapping exercises and stakeholder consultations.
• Support change-management and project-communication activities, maintaining constructive engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work effectively across cultures and functions, contributing to small, agile project teams and managing multiple assignments to agreed quality standards.

Capacity strengthening, knowledge sharing and thought leadership 

• Support the delivery of training, seminars and practical guidance for humanitarian and development partners.
• Transfer methods, tools and lessons learned to partners and colleagues and contribute to reusable analytical approaches and templates.
• Contribute to publications, conference inputs and other knowledge products that communicate project evidence and advance supply chain practice.
• Monitor relevant trends in humanitarian logistics, data analytics, digital tools and sustainability, and translate them into project ideas.

Scope and decision rights

• Decides: choice of analytical approach, tools and methods within assigned modules; day-to-day prioritisation of own workplan.
• Escalates to supply chain advisors or the Regional Director: changes to project scope or methodology, partner commitments, and any decisions requiring workstream leadership or people management.

Qualification Requirements 

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Global Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Economics or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Approximately 2-4 years of relevant experience gained through consulting, project assignments, secondments, internships or applied research in supply chain management, logistics, operations or organisational improvement.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating projects through structured workplans, milestones, stakeholder engagement, analysis, recommendations and progress reporting.
• Hands-on experience with supply chain or operational assessments, process mapping and the analysis of inventory, transport, planning, survey or other operational datasets.
• Experience working with humanitarian, development, UN, NGO or public-sector stakeholders is strongly preferred; comparable multi-stakeholder consulting experience will also be considered.
• Exposure to pilot design, implementation support, change management or business process reengineering is an advantage.
• Experience in working in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or working at global agency HQ in Rome, Geneva, or Copenhagen is a bonus.

Skills and competencies

• Supply chain analytics: ability to clean, structure, analyse, visualise and interpret data, and to formulate clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• Process improvement: ability to map workflows, identify inefficiencies and translate findings into practical future-state processes and implementation roadmaps.
• Project coordination: strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage activities, task teams, milestones and competing priorities.
• Stakeholder engagement and facilitation: confidence working with diverse stakeholders and facilitating interviews, workshops, training sessions and management discussions.
• Communication: excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to produce concise reports and presentations for technical, senior-management and non-specialist audiences. Additional regional language skills are beneficial.
• Digital capability: advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; practical experience with analytical, statistical, visualisation or enterprise tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, SQL, Python, SAP or comparable platforms.
• Adaptability: willingness to travel up to 60%, mainly within Asia, and to work effectively in changing operational and cultural contexts.
