System Engineer (Security Focus)

The Company

We are looking for a System Engineer (Security Focus) to join a leading financial services firm supporting the rollout of a new trading platform. This role sits within the IT team and will play a key part in strengthening infrastructure security, ensuring compliance with MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines, and maintaining a secure, stable production environment.

This is a hands-on role ideal for an infrastructure engineer who has developed strong exposure to cybersecurity practices and is looking to deepen their impact in a financial services environment.

The Role

• Manage and support IT infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments (servers, network, endpoints)
• Implement and maintain security controls aligned with MAS TRM guidelines and internal policies
• Perform vulnerability management, including scanning, assessment, and remediation (e.g. Tenable, Qualys)
• Oversee patch management and system hardening to ensure secure configurations
• Support endpoint protection and monitoring tools (e.g. EDR, antivirus, SIEM)
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure secure deployment of trading applications
• Participate in security audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews
• Monitor system logs and alerts, and support incident response and resolution
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners on security and infrastructure initiatives

Your Profile:

• 5-8 years of experience in IT infrastructure / system engineering, with exposure to security
• Strong knowledge of Windows / Linux systems, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with security tools, such as vulnerability scanners, EDR, or SIEM platforms
• Familiarity with cloud environments.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is highly preferred
• Understanding of MAS TRM guidelines or similar regulatory frameworks is an advantage
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment
• Experience in network setup and administration (LAN/WAN, routing, switching)
• Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, Sophos)
• Good understanding of IT security best practices
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities
