Job Summary

The Technical Superintendent ensures technical performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels by overseeing maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking projects while managing budgets and coordinating with shipyards and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair activities to ensure vessel machinery operates efficiently and reliably
• Monitor vessel technical performance and implement strategies to optimize machinery efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard and shore personnel to maintain compliance with class, flag state, and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW).
• Plan, manage, and supervise dry-docking projects, coordinating with shipyards and contractors to meet timelines and quality standards.
• Control and manage technical budgets to ensure cost-effective vessel operations and maintenance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by adopting modern technologies and best practices across the fleet.
• Manage multiple vessels, vendors, and stakeholders effectively to ensure smooth technical operations.
• Utilize Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), and marine procurement systems to support maintenance and compliance activities.
• Communicate technical information clearly and prepare reports to support decision-making and negotiation processes.

Required competencies and certifications

• Engineer (Class 5) certification or equivalent seagoing experience
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent or similar shore-based role in the bunker industry in Singapore

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience sailing on Bunker Tankers in Singapore
