Technology Research Manager

Responsibilities:

• Take on the responsibility of pumpable adhesives line relocation.

• Work with superior to develop and implement research strategies and methodologies.

• Study the technical development trend and put forward the corresponding business development plan.

• Lead the development of new adhesive and sealant materials for variety of markets including automotive, aerospace, rail, construction, and sporting goods.

• Complete necessary tests needed to develop adhesives and sealants.

• Lead scale up trials taking R&D prototypes to manufacturing.

• Assist in product development, taking R&D developments to market.

• Work with internal and external customers to understand requirements and specifications for new developments.

• Assist Quality when problem solving needs arise by utilizing a science-based approach.

• Proactively define new developments for unmet customer/market needs.

• Lead material validation at customer.

• Generation of intellectual property when appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Polymer Science.

• Minimum of 15 years of experience with proven success in the development of two component adhesives, specially involving epoxy chemistry.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience with phosphate ester chemistry.

• Work experience in a laboratory or technical field required:

1. Experience with rheology using parallel plate rheometer

2. Experience with mechanical testing (tensile, shear and compression testing)

3. Experience with titration techniques

4. Knowledge of thermo-analysis techniques such as DSC, TGA and TMA

5. Knowledge of FTIR

• Ability to work independently.

• Pragmatic approach to opportunities and challenges.

• Proven track record for the scale up of newly developed product to production.

• Proven track record of not only product development, but with the technical sales of the developed product.
