The Workshop Instructor Assistant plays a role in a multidisciplinary vocational rehabilitation team to empower people with disabilities to participate in work activities to gain a sense of identity, improve self-esteem, and a way to give back to society. You will work closely with the social worker, occupational therapist, and workshop instructor as part of the multidisciplinary team. Your challenge is to assist in implementing innovative strategies to help people with disabilities to integrate in the workforce, do well at their jobs and progress in their careers.
Responsibilities
Trainees’ management - learning, training and behaviour management
• Workshop Instructor to: -
o Develop, plan and conduct training programmes to ensure up-to-date industrial training
o Plan, implements, reviews, and evaluates training plan
o Teach, train and supervise trainees
o Perform planting tasks (seeding movement, transplanting and harvesting)
o Process and pack finished products
o Groom and maintain crops in a designated space
o Check production parameters prior to the start of each process
o Maintain checklists and records pertaining to production, plant health and irrigation systems
o Clean and reinstate workstations
• Ensure proper hygiene practices in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
• Implement and practise behaviour strategies with trainees
• Other duties assigned by the manager and instructors
Programme development
• Prepare and conduct skill training programmes
• Prepare and conduct prevocational lessons
• Assist in the research, development, and production of training materials
• Work with trainees and caregivers to achieve suitable employment outcomes
Administration & Operation
• Routine admin duties
• Document client progress and work with multidisciplinary team for interventions and reviews
• Contribute to case reviews
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• GCE A Level, GCE O Level or NITEC Certificate

• Able to work independently.
• Pleasant personality, possess initiative and is a team player.
• Passionate about making a difference to improve the lives of others in the community.
• Must be able to converse in simple English.
• Have a compassionate and patient personality.
• Experience in working with persons with special needs is an added advantage.
