Underwriter - Financial Lines

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to support the continued growth of Canopius in APAC, as a lead underwriter, FINPRO to build out the professional indemnity and D&O product offerings in Asia based in Singapore. There is a business' need for an underwriting practitioner with broad technical knowledge within the financial and professional lines product offering to grow and develop the FINPRO portfolio in Singapore achieving profitable and sustainable growth long term.

This role is suitable for an experienced underwriter looking for the autonomy to challenge themselves in this newly created portfolio and role and build on the sound foundation that has already been created. The opportunity will suit an individual who thrives on being part of an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. He/she will have the ability to operate autonomously and collaboratively, forming meaningful relationships with multiple internal customers and external stakeholders.

This role will offer decisive insight and opinion and drive the future development of the underwriting philosophy and strategy for the FINPRO vertical, with a focus on professional indemnity and D&O risks. As a market facing role, the Candidate will actively represent and promote the Canopius brand and philosophy within relevant markets. Overall, he/she will operate as a driving force of the business' future success.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Contributes to plans for the FINPRO book of business in Asia, tracks and reports performance to plan, and develops a clear view of market conditions and competitive landscape.
• Maintain trusted relationships with intermediary partners.
• Evaluates the performance of intermediary partners in production of business.
• Monitors and communicates production, hit ratios, renewal retention ratios, spread of risk and other production and quality measures.
• Prices business in accordance with pricing and underwriting strategy.
• Reviews data proactively as a method to identify new opportunities within the underwriting function.
• Monitors resources regularly for changes in laws and market conditions that will impact the underwriting department and procedures.
