Urban Planner

Key Responsibilities

• Develop planning solutions that effectively address the social, economic and environmental implications of the physical form; modify and/ or review proposals based on effective design principles of livable and conducive environments.
• To apply and conform to standard practices for City and Regional Planning guidelines where necessary.
• To apply best in urban planning and design techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications on projects
• Independently supports the team in delivering projects primarily involving master planning or urban design input in coordination with the team leaders
• Create innovative design solutions or task management in support of projects in urban design and planning concepts and translate them into clear and compelling graphic images
• Develop solutions that effectively address the social, legal, and economic implications of the physical form; modify and/ or review drawings, construction documentation and detailing
• Confer with design teams in reviews regarding design schemes, proposals and approvals
• Assist to coordinate and consult with federal, state and local regulatory agencies on scope and impact of project when necessary
• Assist to prepare, correct and update work documents
• Assist to manage scopes, schedules and budgets if necessary
• Provide assistance in reporting project activities to senior management
• Assist the team to handle day-to-day communications with Clients and manage Client expectations
• Assist in preparing project showcases and proposals as part of marketing and promotion efforts to attract clientele and seek approvals from authorities
• Other responsibilities include supporting R&D initiatives, office automation efforts, report drafting and editing, business development write-ups, publications, event coordination, and preparation of marketing and promotional materials.

Requirements

• Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in urban planning, master planning, or urban design projects
• Ability to apply urban planning and design techniques, methodologies, and best practices
• Proficiency in preparing design presentations, drawings, and graphic visualisations
• Familiarity with planning approval processes and coordination with regulatory authorities
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project needs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills   
• Strong critical thinking and judgment in adapting design solutions to project needs
