The opportunity

We are looking for a creative and systematic Experience & Interface Designer to lead the creation of user-centered digital interfaces. You will focus on building intuitive, functional, and visually appealing experiences across various platforms, ensuring our digital products excel in usability, accessibility, and overall user impact.

Your key responsibilities

• Experience Design: Design intuitive user flows and information architecture. Create micro-interactions and motion designs that provide visual feedback and enhance the overall journey.
• Interface Design: Develop visually stunning and functional UIs for websites and applications. Create custom graphics, icons, and illustrations that align strictly with branding guidelines.
• Prototyping: Build low to high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize and test design concepts early in the development cycle.
• Inclusivity & Responsiveness: Ensure all designs adapt seamlessly across screen sizes and devices while implementing accessibility best practices for users with disabilities.
• Design Systems: Develop and maintain comprehensive style guides and pattern libraries to ensure product consistency across the firm’s digital ecosystem.
• Testing & Iteration: Participate in usability testing to gather feedback and embrace an iterative approach to refine designs based on real-world results.

Skills and attributes for success

• Design Excellence: An excellent portfolio showcasing UX/UI and visual design work that demonstrates a strong graphic sensibility and clear business impact.
• Technical Mastery: Highly proficient with industry-standard design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Systems Thinking: Ability to demonstrate systems thinking, teamwork, and leadership within a dynamic, agile environment.
• Communication: An effective communicator and presenter who can negotiate design decisions and pitch concepts to Product, Tech, and Business partners.

Ideally, you’ll also

• Hold an advanced degree, training, or certification in Graphic Design, UX & UI Design, or Interaction Design.
• Have experience working as a Product Designer or in a similar end-to-end design role.
• Be a self-directed, organized, and deep thinker who enjoys solving complex problems.

The Opportunity

UX/UI Designers operate with our clients delivery team to take a client from business insight, to concept, to code in a compressed timeframe as well as working within our client project teams to execute Agile sprints to deliver world’s best digital processes, products and platforms over various timescales. Through the use of Design Thinking and User Centred Design practices that include information architecture, visual design, interaction design, research, and prototyping our Designers drive our lean product development approach and produce interactive solutions that deliver business objectives in a useful, usable and engaging manner.

Regardless of the project and the environment, our Designers provide a strong and critical voice for users and good design; owning the end-to-end user experience and business outcomes of design-led product development in EY. Accordingly, our Designers need to leverage solid experience in Design/Human-Centred Design with a high degree of commercial acumen to develop detailed user journeys, information architectures, wireframes, mock-ups and clickable prototypes, while working within tight business deadlines, to deliver real business results.

UX/UI Designers both facilitate and participate in workshops, working directly with our Digital Consultants, scrum team peers, clients and their customers/users to analyse pain points, understand end-user needs, document user storyboards through both digital and physical environments, and co-create digital-native processes, products, platforms and experiences.

Once concepts are formed and agrees, Designers play a hands-on role in EY’s Agile product development teams owning the user research, supporting the Product Owner with functional backlog creation and prioritisation, as well as the design and testing of the product and overall user experience.

In addition to direct client work, our UX/UI Designers contribute to pre-sales of our digital consulting services work by helping our Digital Consultants tell our story through proposals and supporting materials across various media.

As a member to a new and fledgling Digital Practice, this role will have a voice in both the direction of the team, and in the formation of the EY Design Community. As such, you will help deliver a single set of design practices, approaches, tools skills to support the development of a digitally enabled organisation.

To Qualify for the role, you must have

• Tertiary qualified in Design/Communications/Journalism/Media Studies/Industrial Design or related fields that help you make sense from chaos.
• You are passionate about human-centric design, from user research straight through to prototyping
• You tend to add flare to everything that you do & imagining how you could spice things up in everything that you see
• You believe employees are people and the employee experience should be everything a consumer experience should be.
• The tools of your craft are personas, empathy maps, pain-point maps, user journeys, post-it notes and sharpie markers, Sketch, InDesign, the Adobe Creative Cloud, and more
• You have experience in turning conceptual ideas into design deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, page specifications, page flow diagrams, style guides, animation guides, interface copy & guidelines and finally a prototype
• You have a desire to work with a new team to drive Design Thinking and the value of Human-Centred Design into everything we do at EY
