About the Team

You will lead a world-class People Business Partner (PBP) organization across the APAC region, serving as a strategic consultant to GTM, P&T, and G&A leadership. You will architect and integrate a cohesive People Strategy that aligns regional execution with global business objectives. This role reports directly to the SVP of Total Rewards, PBPs, and M&A.

About the Role

The VP People Partners APAC/Japan will serve as the regional P&P head and chief architect of the people strategy across our APAC region. This dual-impact role mandates the leadership of a high-performing strategic HR Business Partner team—supporting GTM, P&T, and G&A functions—while simultaneously integrating all specialized HR workstreams into a unified, region-specific talent engine. She/he will act as an advisor to the APAC region business leaders, especially the President APAC (Sydney based), and contribute to their development, partner with them, and challenge them. She/he will continue building Workday culture, where high performance combines with taking care of people and their individual needs. 

The ideal candidate needs to have a global mindset, come from a high growth organization, fast paced environment and understands transformation and how to support the business in its maturation. 

Responsibilities:

As Workday’s Vice President, People Partners APAC region you are a visible business leader, creating undeniable value across all functions - from Go-To-Market to Product to G&A. You consult with functional leaders to curate the People strategies that, at scale, drive success and shape culture.

To keep pace with a business that is growing and evolving quickly, the role requires you to be nimble, adaptive, anti-bureaucracy, and have a transformative, global mindset. To help the Company continue to scale, you’ll see the big picture yet implement practical, consumable strategies that enable deep adoption and create needed outcomes. To effectively coach and advise as a business leader, you’ll build trusting relationships, grow expertise in the business, operate in a highly collaborative manner and become a product ambassador.

  • Executive Consultancy: Act as a primary advisor and strategic foil to the President of APAC and other regional business leaders; challenging the status quo to drive leadership maturity and high-performance outcomes.

  • Strategic Talent Leadership: Aligns talent strategy to Workday's APAC region growth, partnering across market expansion, effectiveness, and leadership coaching. Lead and upskill a world-class team of People Business Partners, ensuring high-touch support for GTM, Product & Technology, and G&A organizations sustaining engagement and converting business priorities into workforce plans that support AI adoption, scaling, customer-value.

  • Strategic Integration & Leadership: Serve as the regional P&P lead, "stitching together" specialized functions—including Talent, Rewards, and M&A—to deliver a seamless, holistic People Strategy.

  • Change Execution Across APAC/Japan Markets: Coordinates expansions in new markets, providing leadership coaching and development while strengthening organizational effectiveness. 

Year one success factors:

  • Cultivate and leverage relationships across the enterprise to ensure seamless organizational alignment and trust.

  • Assess and align the APAC People Partner team, individually and collectively, against the growth plans of the business and global People talent/succession strategy. 

  • Build and scale the APAC People Partner team by developing and acquiring the technical HR skills and leadership capabilities to deliver a high level of service across the organization. 

  • Drive rigor and discipline across organizational design and workforce planning.

  • Effectively oversee and drive change management initiatives. 

  • Provide proactive thought leadership on relevant people related matters and issues.

About You

The Vice President, People Partners APAC region will be a seasoned executive with tremendous drive, agility, intelligence and capability. She/he will be highly motivated and have the ability and desire to have an impact on the future of the business. The successful candidate will bring a strong customer experience focus; and be a multi-dimensional thinker who operates not only based on important past experiences, but also considers new approaches and developments occurring in the market.  

Ideal Experience:

  • 15+ years of HR experience in a high-pace, hyper-growth company.

  • Strong global acumen and experience with a track record of successfully operating across many different geographies, cultures and disburse teams.

  • Experience in Technology businesses, especially in Software / Cloud companies is preferred.

  • Experience implementing complex strategies, programs, processes, ideas, etc. in a very practical, simple to understand manner.

  • Has led teams through high in-organic and organic growth with deep org design and org effectiveness skills.
