The Volunteer & Merchandise Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of volunteer programmes within the SPCA, developing the SPCA’s volunteer management and engagement strategies. He/she also supports the Community Engagement team with curating, developing, and optimising the placement of SPCA’s merchandise.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing volunteer recruitment strategies and reactivation strategies for passive volunteers.
- Reviewing and developing volunteer management practices.
- Developing and conducting volunteer training and recognition programmes.
- Identifying opportunities for volunteer partnerships with social service organisations, community stakeholders, corporate partners and government agencies.
- Working with other departments to identify our volunteer needs and training strategies.
- Assigning volunteers to specific roles and projects based on their skills and interests.
- Coordinating volunteer scheduling and ensuring adequate volunteer involvement in activities/events.
- Building and maintaining relationships with volunteers and garnering their feedback to better improve our volunteer management strategies.
- Assisting in resolving conflicts/ grievances of volunteers.
- Ensuring a proper feedback loop between volunteers and staff they work closely with to better monitor volunteer performance and provide feedback and support where required.
- Maintaining accurate records of volunteer information.
- Generating monthly reports on volunteer activities.
- Working with partners, vendors and volunteers to develop new merchandise that is aligned with SPCA’s brand and appealing.
- Updating monthly sales records.
- Maintaining inventory and managing the SPCA Merchandise Store (online and offline).
- Reaching out to corporates and malls for potential locations for external merchandise sales
Others
- Providing support for ad-hoc events and SPCA-led projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Degree in any related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar position
- Able to work independently and in teams, meticulous and detail oriented.
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to communicate well in written and spoken English.
- Passion for animal welfare
- Preferred: Prior experience in volunteer management
