VP, Business Risk Manager (Private Banking)

StriveX is partnering with a Private Banking client who is seeking a VP, Business Risk Manager to join them. This role is responsible for strengthening the first line of defense. The individual will partner with business units and second-line functions to lead change initiatives, enhance processes, and implement a robust governance, risk, and control framework. This position acts as a subject matter expert and competence center for critical regulatory areas, ensuring the bank's activities align with risk appetite and regulatory obligations.

Role & Responsibilities:

• • Risk & Control Framework: Act as the first line of defense for Asia, maintaining and enhancing the Risk, Control, and Governance framework. Promote a strong risk culture through training and workshops.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on key regulations including Suitability, Pricing, Investor Protection, and Cross-Border guidelines. Translate regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Change & Initiative Management: Lead and support the launch of new business initiatives, products, and services. Represent the Front Office to review controls, conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensure changes are properly embedded.
  • Stakeholder Management & Support: Act as the primary contact for Front Office on risk and control topics. Collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve issues, improve operational efficiency, and support regulatory and audit reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Champion process streamlining and risk remediation projects. Identify and address Front Office pain points to balance compliance with operational efficiency.
  • Training & Communication: Design and deliver training (e.g., on systems and risk awareness) and manage Front Office communications, including broadcasts and forums.

Key Requirements

• • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Private Banking with a strong background in risk management.
  • Proven understanding of the private banking regulatory environment and risk management principles.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and problem-solving skills with a track record of implementing change.
  • Strong communicator
  • A proactive team player, able to work independently, lead supporting team members, and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
