Purchaser (Tankers)

Responsibilities

• Look after the full buying process for spare parts, stores, lubricants, and services for assigned tanker ships (Crude, Product, Chemical, or LPG)
• Find, assess, and negotiate with approved marine suppliers around the world to get good prices and on-time delivery
• Check and process purchase requests from ships, making sure the technical details and maker references are correct
• Get competitive quotes, compare them, and prepare purchase orders in line with company buying rules
• Work closely with Technical Superintendents and ship crew to confirm specifications and how urgent the items are needed
• Arrange with logistics partners to ship items to ports worldwide on time, taking into account the tanker's sailing routes
• Track delivery progress and follow up on pending orders to avoid any downtime for the ship
• Keep the supplier list, price records, and purchase data up to date in buying systems such as AMOS, ShipServ, or similar
• Make sure all purchases follow company policies and tanker-related rules like ISM, ISPS, OCIMF, and vetting standards
• Review buying trends and spot ways to save costs while keeping safety and quality intact

Requirements

• Diploma in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
• 2 to 5 years of purchasing experience in the shipping industry, ideally with tanker vessels
• Good knowledge of marine spare parts, supplies, and tanker equipment such as cargo pumps and IG systems; able to use marine buying software like AMOS and ShipServ
• Strong negotiation skills, good business sense, and able to handle buying for several ships at once
• Clear communicator who works well with different teams
