Job Description - Technical Sales Specialist (Inside Sales)

We are seeking a proactive and customer focused Technical Sales Specialist to join a growing sales team within a global engineering and technology business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with commercial acumen to identify opportunities, build customer relationships, and contribute directly to business growth.

As an Inside Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in generating sales opportunities, supporting customer engagement activities, securing repeat business, and partnering closely with field sales colleagues to expand market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities through research, prospecting, networking, and customer outreach.
  • Re-engage dormant and inactive accounts to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Generate and nurture a healthy sales pipeline to support business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and responsiveness throughout the sales process.
  • Manage repeat orders and support straightforward new business opportunities.
  • Prepare quotations and follow up on customer enquiries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of sales activities.
  • Work closely with Sales Engineers to identify target accounts and growth opportunities
  • Arrange customer meetings and introductions for field sales colleagues
  • Provide customer insights, market intelligence, and account updates to support sales strategies.
  • Conduct market research to monitor industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records within the CRM system
  • Track sales activities, pipeline status, and account development progress.

Job Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of experience in Inside Sales, Technical Sales, Sales Support, Business Development, Customer Service, or Engineering roles within a B2B environment.
  • Experience working with industrial, mechanical, process, automation, or engineered products and solutions would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage customers effectively.
  • Proven ability to identify customer needs, generate sales opportunities, and support revenue growth.
